NAMLI – Microfinance · Lagos, December 2026
Every module produces something your institution takes away and owns. Nothing is assigned as homework and nothing is delivered as slideware.
The modules
| Module | What it does | What you produce |
|---|---|---|
| 01 · Supervisory readiness | Defines the documents, evidence and management explanations your institution must be able to produce. | Supervisory evidence map |
| 02 · Risk foundation | Tests how your enterprise-wide risk assessment treats terrorism financing, proliferation financing, cash intensity, agents, channels, customers and geography. | TF exposure and EWRA diagnostic |
| 03 · Proportionality position | Documents how your controls reflect your institution’s observable risk and operating characteristics. | Approved proportionality position statement |
| 04 · Monitoring, sanctions and reporting | Maps transaction monitoring, targeted financial sanctions, escalation, suspicious transaction decisioning and evidence retention. | Coverage, testing and escalation map |
| 05 · Gap register | Prioritises deficiencies by consequence, urgency, dependency and evidence requirement. | Institution gap register |
| 06 · Minimum capability | Defines the minimum defensible people, process, data and technology capability. | Minimum capability specification |
| 07 · Shared services and procurement | Tests shared arrangements and defines requirements before any vendor engagement. | Requirements foundation and shared services issues list |
| 08 · Board and supervisor readiness | Translates findings into board decisions, oversight and implementation reporting. | Board and supervisor readiness brief |
| 09 · Implementation commitments | Assigns owners, evidence, resources and deadlines for the first implementation horizon. | 90-day remediation plan |
The two formats
Dates: 9 and 10 December 2026
For national and larger state microfinance banks. Ten to twelve institutions, up to two participants each. The full nine modules, with an institutional diagnostic in which your own position is examined by faculty and by peers running comparable institutions.
Date: 8 December 2026, subject to sponsorship
For state and unit microfinance banks. Twenty to twenty-five participants, working in table clinics rather than individual examination. The core modules, compressed, producing a proportionality position, a gap register and a remediation plan.
How the Sector Clinic is fundedChoosing
The two-day clinic examines each institution individually. Five institutions receive that level of scrutiny in the one-day format, and every participant takes part in the diagnosis.
Lagos, December 2026
All sessions take place at the Lagos Marriott Hotel Ikeja.
| Date | What happens | Who |
|---|---|---|
| Monday 7 December | Faculty arrival, technical rehearsal and closed partner briefing | Faculty and delivery team |
| Tuesday 8 December | Sponsored Sector Clinic, one day | State and unit microfinance banks |
| Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 December | Executive Implementation Clinic, two days | National and larger state microfinance banks |
| Friday 11 December | Institution, sponsor and remediation meetings by arrangement | Selected boards, executives and partners |
After the programme
A confidential, institution-specific follow-on. Two sessions of forty-five minutes each, delivered virtually, with your Chief Compliance Officer or MLRO and your accountable implementation owner.
You nominate an institutional lead and provide your current status, principal blockers and the evidence you are prepared to discuss.
Faculty test your current position, identify the most consequential gaps and agree a small number of immediate actions.
Your institution completes the agreed actions and assembles supporting evidence. NAMLI records owners and dates.
Faculty challenge what has changed, test the new evidence and define the completion pathway.
Priority issues, evidence still required, agreed next actions, owners and dates.
Where deeper work is genuinely required, your institution may request a separate advisory proposal. There is no obligation to appoint NAMLI, and the Clinic is not a route to one.
NAMLI – Microfinance
General attendance does not replace institution-level preparation. Admission is based on an executive sponsor, a defined institutional problem, completed pre-work and the authority to make implementation decisions.
Several hundred Nigerian microfinance banks face a March 2028 compliance deadline and cannot individually fund readiness work. A sponsored cohort brings twenty-five institutions into one room and produces a documented position for each.
One asks what a supervisor would challenge. The other asks whether your method and governance can support the answer. The pairing is the product.
Tell us your institution, your executive sponsor and the problem you want the clinic to work on. We respond within one working day.
