De-risking Southern Africa’s Green Growth

Optimizing Capital Deployment

Where can capital be deployed in Southern Africa in the next 24–36 months, under what structures, and with what risk-return profile?

Mobilising finance at scale for a just energy transition, climate-resilient infrastructure, and a competitive low-carbon economy—amid fiscal constraints and mounting socio-economic pressures—is Southern Africa’s defining economic challenge of the 2020s. The question is no longer what to finance, but how to deploy capital effectively, as investors, lenders, policymakers, and development partners face growing pressure to deliver bankable projects, mitigate risk credibly, and demonstrate measurable outcomes.

The ASFI Southern Africa Series is an implementation-driven platform that moves decisively from strategy to execution. Convening capital owners, project sponsors, policymakers, and development finance institutions, the Forum focuses on which deals are closing, which are stalling, and what it will take to unlock scale across the region over the next 24–36 months.
