Blended finance is channelling public and private funds into investment segments traditionally considered ‘high risk’ for low-risk investors or offering insufficient returns for risk-seekers. Despite the clear benefits of blended finance strategies, their growth in Africa has been slow given the substantial capital needed to achieve sustainable development goals. This session focuses on how blended finance mechanisms are expanding sustainable finance in Africa, highlights the obstacles hindering their adoption, and offers solutions to tackle some of these challenges.
